My Cat has a bubble in his eye???!!!??!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat eye health

My moms cat has a small bubble in the centre of his eye. He is about 13 or 14 years old. He is very active and doesn’t look like he is having health problems but I am still concerned….this was my childhood pet. Does anyone know what this is and if it is serious?????
The bubble litterally looks like a see through bubble that covers most of the pupil

He probably has contracted a virus that’s quite common among cats. He needs to be seen by a vet.

Is it better to euthanize or give a cat up for adoption?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat eye health

My one year old son seems to be allergic to my two cats. We have a heppa filter in his room but the rest of the house seems to give him a rash, runny nose and itchy eyes. Both cats are about 10 years old and aren’t in the best health either…

I’m wondering if it’s more humane to euthanize them or put them up for adoption?

Any help is appreciated!

Well, you don’t give them much choice at their age. Either way, you are killing them. If you bring them at a shelter, they have so many days to get adopted and then, they euthanize them. Plus, do you know what it would do to them to be separated at their age? Poor cats!

Did your cat have eye steroids for a long time? Your experience?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat eye health

One of my kitties has a problem with her eye that never seems to clear up. She has been on a steroid eye drop and now is on another steroid eye drop and an eye antibiotic. Given that I had many health problems with steroids and lost a kitten likely due to a bleeding ulcer caused by steroid tablets, I’m understandably concerned. Current kitty does not take steroid tablets, these are just eye drops. She is 1 year 1 month old.
She is a one year old kitty and has had steroid eye drops for 2 months. The cause is not clear - started as conjunctivitis, but could be viral related. Infected now as well, so getting new steroid drops. My question is what experience did you have with long term eye drop steroids?

My 4 year old cat will have to take steroid eye drops a couple times a week for the rest of her life. I noticed her eye reflecting oddly in the light, so I took her to the vet. After numerous visits and many tests & treatments - and by this time she had developed an awful whitish plaque - I finally took her to an animal eye specialist. They diagnosed her with Eosinophilic keratitis and started her on a regimen of Prednisolone and Idoxuridine 3x daily. The plaque cleared up almost immediately, but she has to continue the drops since this condition is not curable. Now, 6 months later, she’s on a maintenance dose of 1 drop each, every two days. She seems fine in all other ways.

Try not to worry. Steroid suspension drops for the eye are a very different story from steroids taken by mouth. At the very least, if you’re still concerned, talk with your vet. S/he should be able to allay your fears.

Good luck.

Will being cross-eyed have any long term effects on my cat?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat eye health

My two year old cat is crossed-eyed, almost as though one of his eyes is very lazy and moves slower than the other. Will this have any longer term effect on his health? I know there probably silly to worry about him going blind, but is there a higher risk because of his eye-sight problems?

Thanks!
Wow, I am extremely sorry about the grammar of my question. I was typing it and trying to eat at the same time. Bad combination :)
No - no issues at all. I have an extremely cross-eyed lynx point Siamese, and the only "issue" we have with him is he’s clumsy. I believe his depth-perception is affected. Other than that, there is nothing wrong with his eyes, and there is nothing special you need to do/worry about. Some cats even have a "jiggling" associated with their crossed eyes, but again, it’s not a health issue.

I have a question about my cats health?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat eye health

My cat is running around playing with her ball and being hyper and active, and eating.

She is 3 years old,

But it sounded like she was sniffling a bit, and her right eyes sort of watery.

So my question is if she has a respritory problem or cold, Would she be tired and sleeping alot rather then playing and running like crazy chasing her ball?

Cats can get allergies like humans, they also get respitory illnesses. Do you get her vaccinated annually? If not, she may have a serious but treatable infection. I would schedule an exam. Trust me, I have cats and waiting for it to get worse will make it more expensive. I would make an appointment, no need to go to emergency unless she starts vomiting lots or has trouble breathing.

Good luck ♥

My cats health…..He is an outside cat, I let him out yesterday and he was fine. We were leaving town for the?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat eye health

night and I wanted to bring him in but I couldn’t find him. I finally found him under the car and brought him in. When I put him down he almost fell over. I figured it was because he just woke up. I came back today and my house smelt like cat pee, VERY BADLY. He was on the floor, which is not usual, he loves his bed. He was acting the same like he was drugged or poisoned. He was stumbling when he moved and when he sat still he was still acting dizzy and almost shaking. He does not look himself, around his eyes are darker than usual and his breathing seems different. I don’t know what to do the only vet available is 2 hours away but even if I went I don’t have any money to pay, they don’t have a payment plan either…….does anyone have any advice for me. He is a loved family pet, he belongs mostly to my 5 year old, shes totally devastated.

He might have gotten into anti freeze seeing he was under the car. That’s why cats should be kept inside. There are way to many dangers and diseases out there. It really could be anything from him getting into some kind of chemical like anti freeze, it could have gotten hurt in a cat fight. So many bad things out there that can hurt a cat. Please, get him checked out.

My cat had five kittens, but 4 of them are in a good health but the 6th one not?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat eye health

3 weeks old, her eyes are open and she can barely walk but she looks so weak, the other kittens are very healthy, and im so worry about her, but i always see her getting feed from her mother, so i was thinking about giving her Yougrt (low fat) or milk low fat, in my town all the doctors are not qualified enough!

Your small kitten is probably a runt. If she is nursing OK off of momma cat, she should be fine. If the other kittens are bullying her around and pushing her away during nursing time, you may help by getting some kitten replacement milk and a special bottle for baby animals from a pet store or even some department stores, such as wal-mart. One common brand is called KMR. Cow’s milk is not great for cats. It’s OK in a pinch if you need food in an emergency, but kitten formula is much better for them. If the baby kitty seems to be fine, other than being smaller, then she will probably be OK. I once had a runt baby kitten grow up to be a huge 14 pound garfield cat! If the kitten seems to have an actual health problem, you should seek the advice of a good vet.

Good luck, I hope this helps =^.^=

is the smell from cat urine a health risk?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat eye health

my friend keeps his cat in his room and it stinks and i think my eyes even water but is it unhealthy to be breathing that smell

It can be ‘unhealthy’ for people with allergies because it contains the same proteins that trigger allergic reactions. It is also a lot like inhaling ammonia. The friend needs to clean the litter box WAY more often.
