my cat is in good health but he seems to sneeze alot

cats can have allergies. I would suggest going to a pet store and telling them what you’ve been feeding the cat and then possibly change the food. Make sure that the food you are giving him has no corn or corn syrup in it.

Cat has swollen nasal passage?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat health sneezing

My cat is about 13 years old and has never had any health problems. She is an indoor only cat. About 2 months ago she started to seem like she had a cold. I read that they typically go away on their own. But after about 2-3 weeks she was still sneezing and congested, and her left eye was always runny (clear, watery). I took her to the vet and they said she seemed fine other than for how long the cold like symptoms were occurring. So they gave me antibiotics for her for 10 days. Did that, and she seemed ok, but about a week after the antibiotics she started sneezing and hacking again. This time, the left side of her nose inside is completely swollen, like a growth is in there. She still eats normally and hasn’t changed her habits. But the vet just put her on the same Clavimox antibiotics again, and after a week now they don’t seem to be helping. Any ideas what this could be? (she was tested for kitty leukemia and HIV and both came back negative.)

Ask them about a growth or tumor. It does happen. They could try a steroid on her to see if it goes down at all. One shot will not harm her.

Why does my cat keep sneezing?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat health sneezing

My cat has been sneezing every 5 minutes or so for about the past couple hours… What the heck is wrong with him? I mean I can understand him sneezing once but this is like making me sad that he is sneezing so much.
He hasn’t been outside so he isn’t sick, he’s always been in good health.. I’ve just never seen a cat sneeze so much!

He has upper respiratory, which is the kitty version of a head cold.

If he is a young kitten, or if his nose is running quite a bit, or his eyes are really gunky, you should take him to the vet. Antibiotics can’t fix this and should only be used if absolutely necessary, ie if the vet thinks he is getting a secondary infection.

Otherwise, it will run its course. He probably had a fever for a day or two and wasn’t eating very much, if not, he may have a fever now. May be a little lethargic.

This is a common thing, all cats get it sooner or later, and it is very contagious, so don’t expose him to other cats. If he already has been around other cats, there’s no point in quarantining him now.

They sneeze quite a bit, for at least four or five days. There is nothing you could or should do about it, that is the body expelling the germs. It takes about two weeks for the whole thing to pass.

He doesn’t have to go outside to get it; he had it at some point in his life before and it is just in his system. If there is some kind of stressor, or some reason you may not ever know, it just starts up. Don’t freak out and don’t freak the cat out. Just make sure he has fresh clean water each day, and a comfortable and quiet place to rest, and let him be as active or as quiet as he feels like being. He will be okay.

After he is over it, be sure to wash all his bedding and food dishes so they don’t reinfect him.

Weird Stray Cat Story would love your opinion, want to keep her but physically can’t?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat health sneezing

The other night I was sitting on my porch when a stray cat scared the hell out of me and came from under my porch into my lap. This cat was extremely malnurited and timid. So for the past week I have been feeding her and spending time with her. Now the reason she is staying outside is because I am extremely allergic, sneezing, eye itching, breathing difficulty the whole deal. So as long as I stay outside and wash my hands and face immediatly after time spent with her I am good to go.

Now my problem is I am becoming very attached to this cat. I am nursing her back to health and she is very comfortable with me too. She comes from under the porch when I call her and we have our QT time then she goes back under the porch. I live in the North Country and we have hard winters everyone says to just keep her as an outside cat but I don’t think that’s right. So I am trying to find her a home, providing I can let go, if I do, but she is so timid I am scared I won’t find the right place?
Is there any way I could build her an outside home and keep her or is that crazy? I want this cat and hate that I can’t keep her, ironic thing is I have never been a cat person before.

It sounds weird but she may have been ’sent’ to you??? To bring you out of yourself, to encourage you to do things, to learn to love and care? Who knows? Whatever the reason she’s here she’s got your heart going and your mind working - what can i do, who can she stay with? I think your best bet would be to build her a house outside because you won’t be happy if she goes and she won’t be happy if she can’t be with you - someone she loves now and trusts! It hasn’t got to be elaborate, just warm, dry and free of draughts and danger. Ask your doctor too if theres anything you can take for your allergy? Have you tried Piriton tablets? I’m not saying put your health at risk, far from it, but i’ve gathered from your question that to be with this cat means an awful lot to you? I gather it means an awful lot to her too!!! I wish you all the very best, this cat was sent to you for a reason - think about it eh? Take care.

what to do with our new cat?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat health sneezing

My 7yr old daughter has been coughing and sneezing for quite some time. My husband and I adopted a cat around the time all of her coughing and sneezing came about. I took her to the doctor this morning and the doctor said that she thinks my daughter may be allergic to the cat and has referred us to have an allergy test done. She said that if it is the cat, we would have to get rid of her. My daughter began to cry and cry. I’m kind of upset that the doctor said it right in front her. Would I have to get rid of the cat if she is allergic to it or is there something else we can do? I just cant IMAGINE having to get rid her…it would totally upset our household but I know it would be for my daughters health. We love her so much and this cat had serious psychological problems and has grown with leaps and bounds with the love that my family has given her. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We have had the cat since christmas of last year

You don’t HAVE to get rid of your cat. There are tons of ways to get her allergies under control. HEPA filters are a big one (Cats allergens are airborne) and can significantly reduce the chances of her breathing in the allergens. Make sure she washes her hands after playing with the cat everytime. Try to keep the cat out of her room altogether, don’t let it sleep with her. Ummm lets see, oh yeah and you should wash all of your bedding in HOT water every few weeks or so. There are HEPA vaccuum cleaners, Febreze for allergens to spray on your furniture, there are also houseplants that naturally remove allergens from the air. You should also talk to your vet, he/she probably has a good recommendation for a shampoo you can use on your cat to reduce dander, etc. There are lots more things you can do but I think I’ve written too much already :-) Good luck!

my ragdoll cat has a snotty nose and is always sneezing. what can I do?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat health sneezing

Is there any natural feline freindly remedy that I can use for my cat. It has always got a blocked nose and is sneezing creating a health hazard.

I really don’t have an OTC remedy. I am wondering if your cat has allergies or might even have something lodged in the nose. I think you should take it to the vet.

my kittens have fleas but theyre also sneezing, would it be bad to bathe them?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat health sneezing

I read that sneezing can mean they have the cat flu and I dont want to cause further damage to their health by bathing them but I’m also worried about the fleas. They are only 9 days old.
I read that sneezing can mean they have the cat flu and I dont want to cause further damage to their health by bathing them but I’m also worried about the fleas. They are only 9 days old. The momma cat had fleas but I couldnt treat her while she was preggos because it can harm the unborn kittens. I’m going to pass by the vet tomorrow and ask some questions because unfortunately at the moment, I’m a little strapped for cash :[

You can put frontline or advantage on the mother. It will get rid of the fleas on the kittens too, because they are always close to her at that age.

What is wrong with my cat? HELP!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat health sneezing

Okay, well my mom took in a cat that was going to be put down in the pound from a lady at her work. I am not sure if it has any of its shots. She brought it home and it was just acting like a normal 10 week old kitten. Then I noticed that it was not eating, all it does is sleep. When it was sleeping, I turned it on its back to observe its stomach. Then I noticed an injury of some sort that kind of looks like a bite. Then I took a closer look at it and it somewhat looks like a bubble or something. It moves. It like moves out and goes inside and then it leaves this approximate 2 millimeter hole. It spooked me out when I saw it. I also noticed that when it was sleeping, it woke up heaving like it was about to throw up, but it didn’t. It sort of sounded like sneezing. I found out it has fleas. I also have another perfectly healthy, flealess cat. I discovered that my new cat has fleas. Should I keep my older cat away from this one, concerning health problems? I need IMMEDIATE help! Please!
I also forgot that I was concerned if it had worms, or something wrong with it’s heart? I am so confused!
We just got the pet today and we scheduled a vet visit for a check up. I noticed the unusual injury when my mom was asleep, it’s really late now.

Aww poor kitty, I would immediately go to the vet, just in case it’s something bad. Keeping your older cat away from the kitten isnt going to help with the fleas. Good luck
