My cat scratches furniture and uses my new carpet for a litter box what do i do?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter box furniture

I adopted her like a month ago…she’s a year old she tries to scratch people all the time i dont know what to do anymore..oh yeah shes fixed

Is she a feral cat? Sometimes you can find those kinds of cats at shelters. They need a lot more patience and training. Scratching furniture is normal for cats, just trim her nails, but make sure you do it the right way and have your vet demonstrate the first time. As for the litter box, maybe try switching the litter, or make sure it’s completely clean. Cats are finicky. Good luck

Why is my cat peeing on furniture and clothing?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter box furniture

I bought my cat as a kitten and she was already litter box trained. There’s times when she uses the box with no problem but most times she uses two couches, an armchair, or clothes on the floor to pee on. She lives in my computer room now because the final straw for me was when she peed inside of my purse. What is the best logical reason for why she might be doing this? Keep in mind she’s been doing this since she was only a few months old and is now only about a year old.

how do i get my cat to stop peeing on furniture?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter box furniture

we used to have 2 cats but we had to get rid of one cuz we couldnt afford it anymore. ever since then its like my cat has forgotten where the litter box is. he goes on blankets, beds, anything soft and fabric like. any ideas on how to stop the madness?

You should get your cat examined. If all medical options are ruled out, then you should try and play Sherlock Holmes to figure out the other possibilities.

There are many reasons a cat will not use the litterbox. If it is upset because new people are in the house, fights are going on between people, someone left, new furniture was introduced or removed, etc. In this case, it sounds like the cat is upset over losing a friend (your other cat). It will feel the need to mark it’s territory.

Make sure kitty knows where the litterbox is. I have read of people enclosing their cats in a room with the litterbox and monitoring their behaviour closely in hopes the cat would see and use the litterbox.

If your kitty is not fixed, it would be wise to get it done. It will stop a lot of these kinds of problems, and the urine smell won’t be nearly as strong.

The cat may also not like the litter. A clean litterbox is important. Perhaps try a finer litter (more like sand). Cats need their litter boxes scooped very frequently sometimes.

There may even be a problem with the litterbox. Perhaps a covered one would be better than uncovered, or vice versa. Are the sides high? Maybe the cat would prefer a short-sided one.

My cat won’t use the litter box! HELP!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter box furniture

I have a 3 year old Bengal cat. I got her at age 2 from a breeder. She’s a gorgeous cat and we love her so much but she’s had a litter problem since we got her. The lady we got her from originally said she never did that when she lived with her. She went to another home before ours and she had litter problems there and they returned her. I decided to take the risk and take her with her problem hoping I would be able to resolve her.
I don’t want to get rid of her but I feel like I’m at wits end with her sometimes. She usually poops right next to the litter not inside it. She also usually pees in the litter box but occasionally she pees on anything left on the floor like a towel, clothes etc. She peed on a recliner I had downstairs and I had to get rid of it. I don’t want her to pee on my new furniture upstairs. I’m using a scented clumping litter. I bought unscented litter to see if that’s the case. I keep the litter clean, and I have two litter boxes both uncovered.
I was also considering the possibility of her having a UTI, she does clean her butt a lot. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow. Any suggestions or past experiences are welcome. I can’t deal with this anymore. Thanks!
my kitty was fixed before I got her.

A trip to the Vet is a good idea! But I had the same problem with my girl kitty, It stopped once I got her Spayed! So is your kitty fixed? If not that might be the problem. Ask your Vet when you take her! >^..^<

We got two new kitties that are 7 weeks old, how do we get them to use the litter box?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter box furniture

We have one other kitty who is 4 months old and was litter trained when we picked him up. We have two litter boxes(a kitty one and a bigger one) and have them eatting regular kitty food. We are tierd of finding cat poop underneath furniture. Thats the only place they go. We tried putting them in the box, we even locked them in a room with just the kitty litter box, food and water and they still found other places to go. Someone please help!

Ok what you do is get 1 of the kittens put them in the little box get their paws and pretend like they are finding a spot to go then like put them in a position like they are pooping or peeing. then get the kittens paws again and cover the spot that u had the kitten on with other littler in the box. Do that for at least 5 times a day soon enough the kittens will realize that the littler box is where they are suppose to use the bathroom.

Litter-Box Training…please!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter box furniture

I think my kitten is about 5 weeks old or so…she JUST started actually leaving "evidence" when she uses the bathroom, so I’m trying to figure out how to direct her to the cat litter box. I caught her about to run behind a piece of furniture last night & I put her into her litter box then…she jumped out first, and then when I put her back in, she sat there for about a minute or so and only ‘tinkled’ slightly. But how do I train her to go to the litter box?
hmmm…stool in the litter sounds like a good idea.

My bf’s friend’s cat had these kittens & they were going to give them to the humane society, but he got her for me before they took them. They told me that she was about 8 weeks old over the phone, but when I saw her I figured she was younger. Originally, she was kneading the milk as she ate it. She’s gotten a little better with that, though.

Put some of her stool in the litter box. You can also get some special litter that draws kittens to the litter box. Go to pet stores and ask if they have that kind of litter.

My cat doesn’t use the litter box?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter box furniture

Her name is Emmy, i’ve had her for about a year. She started out fine and always went in the box, but for the past couple of months she’s been avoiding it and peeing on my furniture. Its a bitch to clean up. Can anyone tell me whats wrong? I also own 3 other cats. 1 boy and 2 girls.

The most common reason cats pee outside of the litter box is UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) Cats do not show their pain, but this is a painful infection. Please have her checked out by a vet asap.

If that isn’t the problem, the next obvious thing to look at is the number of litter boxes. Some cats don’t like to share. It would make sense that this choice would come out at about one year old — just as she is beginning to assert herself. If you want to help her out, get a new litter box and put her in it as soon as you set it up. I would make it one with a flat hood so that she can easily guard the box, if she chooses. (She can sit on top of it and keep others out until they get the message that it is her box!)

In any case, with four cats, you should have a minimum of five boxes.

Other reasons cats stop using the litter box, they don’t like the litter, they don’t like hood, they want a hood, they want one for poop and one for pee, etc. If it gets to this point, you just have to change one thing at a time until you find the combo she likes.

However, I’m guessing the problem is a UTI. Please do have her checked by a vet asap! : )
