I read on the internet that kittens are supposed to open their eyes at around two weeks old. My cat had three kittens about six days ago and all of them have already opened their eyes. I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, should I be worried that they have opened their eyes earlier than usual?

No, don’t worry about it. The 2 week thing is just an average time. Sometimes it takes longer, sometimes less. The mom cat may be a little OCD and licked them open. They probably still can’t see, though. And as a side note, they probably have grey eyes that will turn blue, then another color. Perfectly normal.

my cats kittens are only a few days old but when they are alot older how will I know when to start feeding them soft food?

at about 4 or 5 weeks, start putting a bowl down with kitten food. Not cat food, kittens need different nutrients and it’s usually smaller and easier to chew. They’ll eat some, and still go to their mother. When they are 8 or 9 weeks old, they are old enough to be weened completely. But will require kitten chow until around 6 months old.

What are the normal temp ranges for cats and kittens? Are they different?

It’s strange b/c my cat’s temp is always around 99. I took my kitten’s today b/c he is recovering from an URI. It was 101.2. So I was just wondering.

They have a temp. of approximately 101* which would feel like a fever to us.

is it possible to bathe cats too often? is 2 weeks apart too much? i have a four month old kitten that always wants to get in the bath with me. how often can i shampoo him?

You shouldn’t bathe them too often. Cats generally do a pretty good job of keeping themselves clean. I bathe mine few times a year. If you wash all the oils off, you can dry out their skin and make the hair more brittle.
But there’s a difference between bathing and swimming. Swimming doesn’t involve the scrubbing and rinsing. So if your kitten likes to swim, I guess you can let him occasionally. But don’t let the soap/ water get in his eyes or ears.

I have a kitten, he sneezes from time to time. Earlier this year, he caught a cold after his surgery. He didn’t have his booster shot and his immune system was low. I know he doesnt have a cold from earlier experience. By curiosity, cats and kittens have allergies too.

yes they can have allergies…I know that allergies to food are common and that the only alternative foods can be fairly expensive and I’ve heard of cats having seasonal allergies as well however I don’t know much about that…if you suspect allergies a call to your vet may help you

I am a single mom with a great son and good job. I live where they don’t allow pets but I do feed strays but keep a distance since they have fleas. I will be moving in the fall closer to my son’s dad. The kittens and cats in my dream were adorable and living at the time in the home I grew up in but I was not allowed to take one in as a pet since we already had two cats.
