frontline plus for cats
There is a Mountin Lion tick that kills house cats that do not have protection frome them. But if the stuff that they say will work, does not work…what do you do? I can’t sit and watch them all die…I know that it isn’t right but I can’t kill them when I know that they are going to die…I love them too much to just kill them…is there any other product that does work? Some of my cats live outside…Please help me.
It kills house cats too…so having them inside won’t help at all…
I’ve had at least 8 cats die in the last 3 years from a disease caused by ticks that have been on bobcats. I think it’s formal name is cytauxzoan. It’s supposedly very rare, but starting to get more common. They say all a tick has to do is bite it once and fall off and there is no cure for cats. It has been so hard to watch my cats die from this. I used to just put frontline plus on through the summer, but since last year, I have put in on all year long. However, the ticks are so bad because of the mild winter, that the Frontline Plus doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve not had any die this year because of the ticks, but within a few weeks, I do find ticks on my cats. I’ve heard that Frontline Plus is the best for ticks, but they seem almost immune to it this year. If you find another answer, please let me know. I understand your dilemma. We also spray the yard a few times every summer, but we live in the country and can’t control everywhere they go. The only sure thing would be to never let them outside.

The cat formula is weaker than the dog counterpart. It wouldn’t work as well.

frontline plus for cats
I gave my three cats a Frontline Plus treatment around November 5th. One of them lives mostly on the main level of my home while the other two sleep in my finished basement (they are littermates). I’ve had to keep them separated because of the fleas. My two basement babies seem to have them worse so until I get rid of the fleas, I can’t let them upstairs. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody knows whether or not I can go ahead with another Frontline Plus treatment for my basement babies since it hasn’t quite been 30 days since their last treatment? They are 16 months old if that makes any difference and they are very healthy. I went to my basement tonight to feed them and had on white socks and noticed the fleas jumping all over my feet. We vacuum down there every 3 or so days, but it looks like we need to pick that up and start vacuuming every other day. I also gave my upstairs kitty the Frontline Plus treatment on November 5th and it seems that we’ve almost gotten rid of the fleas on him and on the main level of my home, so we’ll be concentrating on the basement. I figured getting rid of the fleas in the basement would be alot harder since there are two cats. Anyway, if anybody can let me know if it’s ok to go ahead & apply the Frontline even if it hasn’t yet been 30 days since the last treatment, I’d appreciate it. Thank you!
For major infestations (which it sounds like you have) then, yes, you can give it every 3 weeks. You might be able to call your vet and make sure.
I might consider having a professional exterminator come in and exterminate the flea population in your house. It sounds like it might be out of control and that will give you some headway in fighting the problem.
Make sure to continue giving them Frontline for at least a year. The flea life cycle lasts about a year and if you stop giving your kitties the Frontline then you’ll just have the same problem over again.
As an FYI don’t get them anything other then Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution. Those other, cheaper drugs, have some pretty nasty side effects when it comes to cats.

Recently I used Frontline Plus for Fleas, Ticks, and Chewing Lice. Tigger, my seven year old, became very lethargic, avoided noise and light, and refused to eat for days. He was once too weak to get into the litterbox, wetting the bathroom rug. He’s NEVER done that before. He didn’t seem to really know where he was. He is better today. Has anyone had a similar experience?
yes the can and very often do. please ask your vet to a prescritption for Revolution becuase it is less dangerous. frontline and advantage both have a pretty high incidence of issues. also i dont know what you feed but that could be the problem cats need wet food never dry, grain free food (they are carnivores and cannot metabolize grains for energy), and their food needs to be based on human grade meat not 4D meat which is what all of the catfood you can buy at the grocery store contains. i think that Wellness or Instinct or Merreck for canned food is great and Aunt Jeni’s home made ofr life for raw is wonderful (raw is better than canned but your kitty will be fine on canned.) the important part is that it is not predominantly fish, contains no grain, and does not contain by-products. also your cat could have eaten somehting else toxic besides the frontline. household plants and cleaners are really common problems for cats. please bring your cat to the vet even if the symptoms have subsided. he could still be in trouble. good luck all the best

Online…
please post any online websites. thanks.
I used to get my flea/tick and heartworm medications off eBay, but have found that often it can be as costly as buying from the vet. A friend of mine introduced me to PetShed, and they are much less expensive than any other site or local venue. Link is below; check it out for yourself!!

I had some Frontline for Cats left before my cat ran away and I have a small dog, would it be effective??
Yes but it will be ineffective unless the animal is the same size.

the price and the box design have slight different.
If you want to be fairly certain that what you are buying is genuine it would be best to go to reputable Vet (clinic). I would be wary of pet shops, There is so much fake stuff here its very hard to tell if it is the real thing until it is used. Its hard to check if its a fake because the packaging is so good. So far all that I have purchased from my vet has been fine.
If you find the price is low its probably Counterfeit.

I’m having a bit of a dispute with my roomate. Here’s the background: She adopted a cat that has fleas and subsequently, my 2 cats have also become infested. We have spoken with our vet and are getting Frontline Plus for them. The question is : After applying the Frontline Plus, do we need to also treat the house in addition to using the stuff on the cats? All 3 cats are indoor cats. " I’m right, you’re wrong!!! " rights are riding on this!!!!
If the cats have fleas then you will have fleas in your house. if the adult fleas are dead they could have still have laid eggs in the carpet etc. which will in turn hatch and develope into adult fleas. So your answer is YES, treat your home. Vacuum everything, wash all you can in the hottest water possible. Ask your vet for more advice
