cat stuff?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: furniture cat toys

What are some cat toys or stuff that you got and loved for you cat…? I heard about something that you can put outside for the cat to play inside. I heard its real big netted thing or something but i can’t seem to find anything…other than that, what are some of their ffavorite toys or games…or stuff to play with or furniture?

Cats can be a little bit like children, get them a great present and they play with the box! haha You could go spend an absolute fortune on cat toys only to find out that your darling cat loves chasing leaves!!haha I guess each cat is different but mine goes absolutely crazy for string! They also like little teddy bears (really light so that they can carry them around and throw them up in the air then catch them! They best toy i ever got was a pipecleaner spider, it cost about 50 pence! It had like a ball of wool in the middle and pipe cleaner legs, it should be quite easy to make yourself. Whatever you decide to buy be it a climbing frame or a tunnel etc etc im sure they will love it, try spraying your new purchase with catnip spray - they’ll go crazy for it! You sound like you love your cats too! good luck! x

How can I keep my cat entertained in my flat - there is no garden accessible?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: furniture cat toys

He ignores scratching posts but scratches the furniture. He also ignores balls and other toys. He is steadily putting on weight despite only eating one pouch food/day. I need something to keep him active and stop him from getting bored!

You can get little rubber balls with small holes in that the cat can roll around. If you fill it with small treats, your cat will spend a couple of hours trying to get them out and getting exercise at the same time. Also, play with him for a long time in the morning so that he is tired when you leave him during the day.

How do I make sure my new cat will scratch her scratching post and not my new leather furniture?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: furniture cat toys

The cat i’m getting is about 1 year old - she’s not a kitten. My husband doesn’t want to declaw her(and we don’t have the money for it now anyway)She’ll be alone most of the day while we’re at work. She’ll have a scratching post and toys. But all the no scratch sprays i’ve seen say not to use them on leather because it’ll ruin it. So how do i make sure she doesn’t ‘try out’ the leather furniture when we’re not there to watch her? I don’t want to shut her away in one room because it’s unfair -any ideas or knowledge?

My cat won’t stop scratching on my furniture!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: furniture cat toys

We adopted him about 3 and half years ago, he was 1 or 2 years old at the time. he was fine for the longest time, but now he is destroying my furniture. De-clawing is not an option for us, he is 5 or 6 and I feel it would be cruel to do it now. We have a scratching post and other such toys, but he ignores them. Any suggestions?

Since you have a scratching post, try that first - put it right in front of the area on the couch/chair he’s targeting the most and rub some catnip on it so it’s appealing to him. Sometimes they don’t like them because they’re not as stable as the furniture is - they don’t like them to wobble, so weight it down.
They have some spray you could put on the furniture to repel him, but I don’t know how effective that is.
What cats hate is aluminum foil - it might look stupid for awhile, but try taping some onto the sides of the furniture and put some on the floor where he’d walk to get to his scratching spot. And make the scratching post the most appealing thing in the room!
My sister put duct tape on her furniture after awhile to save what was left after all the shredding!
Good luck!

Why are my cats peeing on furniture?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: furniture cat toys

My roommate and I have two cats. One is about one years old and one is about two years old. About a month ago, we moved from a large apartment into a smaller one. To make the transition easier, we bought the cats new toys to go with their old ones and a kitty tree. We also changed their litter boxes. Instead of two open litter boxes we bought a large litter box that has a cover and a swinging door. Because the apartment is much smaller, it’s easier to have one litter box. We scoop this litter box everyday, and change all the litter about every two days. Lately, however, one or both of our cats have been peeing on our furniture. Last week after I was gone for a few days, I came home to find out that one or both of them had peed on my bed. This morning I woke up, and discovered, yet again, that one or both of them have peed on the couch. I’ve cleaned both instances, but I want to stop this from happening. We’d be willing to get another covered litter box, but is there another reason why the cats, or cat, could be peeing on furniture? They’re both very well trained and, until recently, have never done anything like this before. Any help would be great. Thanks! :)
You should have one litter tray per cat - this will probably solve the problem.

The move may have also upset them a bit and this could be another reason for them doing it. Put some orange peel on your bed when you’re not there to supervise, this is supposed to be an affective, natural method of stopping cats peeing in certain places.

How to stop my cats from scratching the door frame?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: furniture cat toys

I have four (4) indoor cats. They have lots of cat toys and scratching posts and I even permit them to scratch the furniture. (its ugly furniture anyway) But my main concern is that they are scratching on the door frame of my bedroom! It’s a wooden door frame and they are just tearing it up! Is there any way that I can get them to stop scratching at the frame? Help!

Goooooooood mornin’ m’lady!

Well, there’s the old squirt bottle to chase ‘em away with. Feliway, as previously mentioned, can (strong "can") be halpful, but is very expensive and may not do much (not to mention it is a 1 room thing, so they could stop using it here, but start scratching there). A catnip post is a great idea…just put it right where they usually scratch and it should help.

I have also heard, but not tired, orange oil. Might even be able to accomplish by zesting and orange and then rubbing it on the door frame. Apparently they don’t care for it and should leave it alone. Worth a shot–and helps the room smell citrusy! You can’t lose!

Best luck with the good ol’ kee kats!

How do you keep cats from scratching up furniture?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: furniture cat toys

He scratches the side of my couch. I have bought plenty of scratch toys, but he seems to like my couch better!

I’ve always had my cats declawed, so when I got Lucie Blue I decided to try it without declawing her. She has a scratch box which she loves to use, and my upholstered chair which is her second favorite, and my carpets which she loves to scratch. I tried the sprays, but you have to keep using them several times a week. Finally, I called a couple of vets and asked for their opinions about declawing. Both said it’s not inhumane, and one of them uses laser surgery which is less invasive, less painful, and quicker to heal.
