Those are both top-quality foods. I don’t think there’s much difference when you get into that level of quality. Why don’t you try a little of each, to see which one your cat prefers?

After the recall and checking out the Peta website, I want to switch our food. Our local pet store suggested Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul (yeah, crappy name) and same for the cat lovers soul. Any reviews?
I don’t blame you a lot of people are changing. I use to use Nutro dry food for my adult dogs, but NOT any more. I have always used Merrick wet and dry for my Senior dogs and pups. Since this recall I have switched to Merrick for everything. Their food is USDA Approved, and dogs love it! They also have sample packs for about $6, but I can guarantee even the most finicky dog or cat will love this food. I have never seen even 1 dog walk away from a bowl of Merrick until the bowl was empty.
You can go in their website: merrick.com, and view their products, they also have a store locator for the U.S.. And if you like their products they have a club you can join for a nominal fee and it offers amazing discounts throughout the year.
I really hope you will take the time to view their website and try their product, you will surely be glad you did.

That’s what I use, do the make wet food from IAMS?
Wet is always better the dry food. Iams isn’t great
Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrdiant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?
http://www.catinfo.org/#Learn_How_To_Read_a_Pet_Food_Ingredient_Label
Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms
The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grfains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process them. Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in
Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don’t use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.
You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn’t have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all. The best food for cats does not contain any grains at all.
Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bpo_ch4a.php
Please read about cat nutrition.

I wouldn’t ever buy IAMS food. I have personally seen the videos of the facilities they are kept and experimented on in. They are treated horribly, and live in tiny cramped cages. IAMS is not the best food out there, and with them inhumanely testing on their animals, why support them?
That’s just my two cents. There are better foods out there anyways.

I recently changed my cat to Blue Spa Select Weight Loss Formula from IAMS adult cat formula, and I have some leftover IAMS wet food? Is it alright to feed him both at the same time or should I just throw it out?
Thanks.
Sure. The IAMS canned food is a lot better then their dry. I’d also consider other wet foods too; Wellness, Blue Buffalo (Spa), Natural Balance.

Iams is not a good brand to feed kittens/cats. You should try EVO, Nature’s Variety Instinct, or Nature’s Logic. There’s a store locator on their websites.

If they cost too much or you can’t find a store that sells their products then I suggest Authority kitten food. It’s only sold at Petsmart.
And you made a good choice with feeding your kittens canned. Cats need canned food, here’s a great article that explains why. http://littlebigcat.com/index.php?action=library&act=show&item=whycatsneedcannedfood

The IAMS Company have funded and participated in laboratory experiments on hundreds of animals that caused kidney failure, obesity, malnutrition, liver damage, severe allergic reactions, stomach inflammation, diarrhoea, severe skin disorders, lesions, skin wounds and other painful illnesses, and animals have been kept in barren dungeon-like conditions. Would you still buy there food?
I am on a message board right now arguing with someone who thinks that this type of testing is necessary to prove the food is safe.
I dont get some people.
I use to feed my Akita IAMS because it was the food the breeder had him on. He scratches too much on IAMS ( from the wheat ) so I switched him to Nutro. Now he has stopped scratching and has actually started to gain some healthy weight and has become really energetic.
