Cat-O-Rama

My house has a lot of glass doors and Bella my kitten can see outside from everwhere. She snuck out once and now loves the outdoors. I dont whant her wondering around but how do I keep her indoors and happy!

You are wise to want to keep your kitten inside. Despite what many people say, it is NOT cruel to prevent cats and kittens from going outside. There are MANY hazards out there that can get the best of them: cars, dogs, bad people, other cats (especially toms), wild animals, etc. Over the years I have lost a number of precious cats whom I loved very much and allowed to go outside.

I had a very wise indoor/outdoor male kitty who was quite a bad@ss and good at protecting himself from other animals and strangers, avoiding traffic, etc. Well turns out that once he decided to get up under the hood of someone’s car. When they started it his tail got caught in the fan belt and destroyed much of the nerves around his rectum. He didn’t die but the vet said he’d never be able to go to the bathroom normally again, and he’d live a miserable life and have to be kept indoors for the rest of his life. I made the difficult decision to have him put to sleep

The point is, that even the wisest of outdoor cats can meet their end at the most unthought-of sorts of fate. People who dont allow the cat to go outside are wise to do so, they are helping their pet live a much longer and safer life by doing so.

It is good that your baby has lots of windows to look out. Dont think of it as the cat thinking "Oh how I wish I could go out there". Think of it as "Cat TV". I have an indoor only kitty who LOVES to look out windows, however, he shows very little desire to try to sneak out when the door is opened. Make sure your kitty has lots of toys to play with, and change them regularly so she doesn’t get bored with them. It would also entertain her alot if you were willing to get a small fish aquarium (with a lid of course, so she cant actually get them). Cats love staring at the fish for hours on end. If you get her a cat tree/jungle gym sort of thing, she would have a ball with that, too.

Our older cat always seems to attack the kitten but the kitten doesn’t like run and hide and he seems to instigate it sometimes. The thing is, he always screaches when the bigger cat has him and wags his tail once he gets away. Is this just fun or is the kitten afraid?

sounds like they’re having fun! Just keep an eye on the kitten for injuries and scratches. If the kitten keeps asking for it, then he or she is obviously looking for a playmate.

I adopted two wonderful kitties- one’s about 12 weeks old, the other 4 weeks. The smaller obsessively tried to nurse the older girl.

I have no idea how to make him stop. I realize he is still a baby and was probably not ready to stop nursing, but the older cat is so annoyed. She can’t sleep peacefully because a little kitten is attached to her nipples!!

Any ideas? I’m thinking of getting a small bottle for him and feeding him that way, hoping he’ll learn to leave her alone. Anyone else have this problem? How’d you get them to stop? What’s the typical age a kitten stops nursing?

4 weeks is far toooooo early for a kitten to be taken from it’s mom.
You must call and make an appointment with your Vet. The little one might not be getting enoough nourshment and is hungry. You didn’t say how long you have them. There is so much to be considered. Have they been dewormed? What is does the stool look like. If there is any change in stool to too soft or hard call your Vet.
Putting the young kitten on a bottle with special formula for cats will definately be a benifit at this age.
The habit of older kittens suckling for that nice feeling is not uncommon. I had a kitten at 5 ms suck on my 4 yr old neutered male. They were best buddies but the 5 yr old got sore nipples. I had taken in the kittens as stray and did find a home for all. I just had to keep alert and distract the younger one.
It is all way best to have your own Vet examine any new cats that come into your home.

I gave my kittens a bath and now one of them is being very aggressive and mean to the other kitten. I read on a pet site that you’re supposed to keep them seperated after a bath but I didn’t read that till after I let them around each other after the bath. What should I do?

Just let them dry off … and play … just let them be cats … let them do what cats do best. I have 7 cats, 4 adults and 3 newborns. I’ve given ALL my adult cats baths, sometimes at the same time! And i’ve NEVER had this problem .. but i’m sure it comes up, like you said.

Chalk this up as a tiny mistake .. and make sure you keep them seperated until they dry off .. in a bedroom or something.

I have a 3 month old kitten and an 11 year old cat. Both of them like to eat little and often so their feeding bowls are always out. They both enjoy dry biscuits and recently I’ve noticed that the kitten will push the big cat out of her way so she can get to his food, he then just wanders over to her food.
Is it important that she’s eating the right sort of food for her age? She really seems to prefer adult cat food.

Since it is the minerals and vitamins that are of obvious difference to the two types of pet food, here is a general comparison of their nutritional contents:

It is necessary in cat care that your pets be given the right pet food for their best nutrition. It should be noted that cat nutrition depends on their age. Again, kitten foods will not do any good to your adult pet cat and vice versa. So give your pet the right cat food. If it is followed properly, the cat’s nutrition will always be at its best.

I have a 1 1/2 year old pug who is very friendly with other animals, however she is sometimes a little TOO friendly. I recently brought home a 5-week-old kitten and I can’t get them to behave for the life of me. The kitten is fine walking around the house, but my dog feels the need to act like the kitten is her own personal toy, chasing after her, barking at her, nipping her. How can I make this stop, outside of yelling at her? Should I place her in a separate room each time until she learns that she won’t have this kitten to play with if she continues? It’s incredibly frustrating.

Naw just keep telling your puppy bad no no and love on the kitty and show him the kitty is nice. If that don’t work the cat will scratch him once hope it not bad and he’ll leave your kitty be at least not be so rough. Good luck!!

The kitten eyes were complete black. Unlike the other kittens that showed blue pupils in their eyes, one kitten showed no color but just black eyes. Also when he was outsides for a while, he would squint his eyes.

well i’m not sure about cats, but i know that in people the absence of an iris is a disease called aniridia..
and that can cause blindness…
if you can, i think you should take the kitten to a vet..

I’ve heard rumblings and rumors of Fantasia Parties before, sometimes called “Romance Parties,” or simply put “Adult Sex Toy Parties,” but until best girlfriend told me she was going to get married, I didn’t think much about it.
