I am trying to find out if there are any kittens for sale by personal sellers in my area. Is there a good website that would show listings…?

If by "personal sellers" you mean people who breed their cats and sell the kittens on internet "want ads", and who are not knowledgeable breeders, it could be a serious mistake to buy a kitten from such a person. You could end up unknowingly buying from a kitten mill or from someone else who does not give the kittens proper care. That gives you a greater risk of a future vet bill and a greater risk of having a kitten with behavioral problems. See the linked articles for more on this.

The best thing to do is to go to the cat shows where you can meet the breeders in your area. A good rescue organization or shelter is also a good choice. The important thing is to make sure that whoever has been caring for the kitten before you buy it has had the best interest of the kitten in mind and not just the money to be made from a sale.

This site is GREAT! There are shelters you can pick in here, and also, people post their own classified ads as well so you can find someone close enough. Your best bet is to get a kitten from a shelter to be sure that they have shots, or have shots lined up and ready to go, some kittens you get from other people may not have had shots, or been found, and could have diseases or get very sick.

I have 5 tabby striped manx kittens about 6 weeks old ,they all have alot of really good personalitys,can anyone tell who to contact to sell before they get much do I ask for them,..

charge a refundable $40 fee. that way you are alittle more sure that they are getting a good home and not being sold to a research lab or to someone who just wants to torture poor kittens. When they come back and show you proof that they have the kittens up to date with their vaccinations and they are spayed/neutered then they can have the $40 back. you can start putting the word out about them but they need to be with their mom till they are 8-12 weeks, the longer the better.

I really want a bengal kitten but im on a budget of £100 and i keep seeing some for £100 but they are down in london and i live in scotland. I just want a lovely family cat. i dont mind if it has any markings that makes it not to be able to be showed

Given you are on a budget of 100pounds then I don’t think you are going to get hold of a bengal.

If you find a ‘breeder’ who is selling bengal kittens for that amount, then something is very wrong, it costs a lot of money to raise healthy purebred kittens & those breeders who charge a few hundred pounds per kitten are unlikely to ever be making a profit.

If you have your heart set specifically on a bengal, my only suggestion is to contact cat rescue organisations, and find out if there are any adult bengals available - if you are very very lucky you might find one.

I’d suggest getting a normal mixed-breed kitten from a shelter/the pound - that way you’ll have enough left in your budget for cat food, a litterbox, a scratching post, toys etc.

A normal mixed-breed kitty will certainly satisfy your wishes for a lovely family cat! Go to the pound and spend some time in person with the kitties, I’m sure you’ll agree with what I’m saying.

You’ll also likely be saving kitty’s life by adopting him/her.

Im looking for a tabby kitten only from a good home

Hi there! I tried looking online for my kitten before I realised that it wasn’t working. There are also some unsavoury people who will TELL you they have a kitten available, invite you over to their home, and you will find no kittens there.

Your best bet is to try a rescue home first (see website below). They often have kittens in there, not just older cats (although, give them a chance too!). If that doesn’t work out for you, try the local ad papers that come out every few days. (Here’s a tip - if the next edition is due out on Thursday, buy it in the morning and call straight away. Leave it for even one day and the kittens may be gone! But persevere and you should pull through! I bought 6 newspapers in two weeks before I found my kitten!) You will find one eventually.

Whatever you do, please please please don’t buy from a pet shop or kitten farm. They mass produce kittens like stuffed toys and not only is it cruel, but you are more likely to have problems with the kitten you buy. If people stopped buying these kittens, they would have to stop breeding them.
