A pet food price question. Can you help?
Hello! My boyfried and his father’s most recent endeavor is a pet shop. He asked me about some of the prices of pet foods. I don’t really know myself, but I figured some of you might like to help out.
Please answer these questions:
1) What pet you have (specifically). Ex: Dog — German Shepard [[It doesn't have to be your typical cat and/or dog! It can be anything you could have for a pet. Lizards, snakes, fish, the like.]]
2) What brand of food you buy, it’s cost, and what country it was produced in
3) Where you buy your pet supplies
4) About how quickly do you use up one bag of the food
5) Any comments you have about the food
Thank you very much! :]

I want to start my own pet store?
Hi everyone! I have a really good idea for a pet store. Here is what will make it unique:
-Will NOT sell live animals other than fish, mice and rats (snakes gotta eat too!), and some parrots. The mice and rats will be bred by me, mainly as feeders, but not inbred, so they can be bought as pets. And of course I’ll socialize them as babies, I wouldn’t be able to not! Also, the parrots I want to sell are budgies, cockatiels, and perhaps mini macaws. I’m not sure. But they will be bred by me in my home and the cockatiels and other birds will be hand fed by me (not going to sell a ton, just have one or 2 breeding pairs for each type of bird) and the babies will be well socialized.
-I want to set up pet adoption days with the humane society. So they bring in some dogs and/or cats that need homes, and people can come to my store to adopt them! I have seen this at petsmarts and stuff.
-Because I’m not going to have lots of animals (and none from pet mills), I am going to have a directory of breeders in the area for all kinds of animals. That way, people will have an easy resource to find reliable breeders for the pet they want.
-I am also going to have a self-serve dog wash. They are popular to have at car washes, and cheaper than having the dog professionally groomed.
-Also, I will have an agreement with people that do buy the pets I have, if they can not take care of the animal anymore within a year of purchase, I will take the animal back, to help keep pet shelters from overflowing even more.
-I will carry a HUGE selection of supplies and food for all kinds of pets. Reptiles, fish, small pets, dogs, cats, birds, maybe even horses (still pondering that…)
-And many people are worried about their pets safety with toys. I will do my best to provide only safe products for pets.
My second question is, what are some specific brands or products you would like to see in a pet supply store?
Thanks!
I have owned rats, mice, and I am on my 4th bird. And they have all been healthy and well taken care of, so my pets at the store will be also. Plus, I’ll have help with some of the running of the store (mainly from my mom, who would love to work there)
True they can be found in shelters, but, a shelter isn’t likely to adopt out a rat or mouse that is going to be fed to someone’s snake, are they?
Second, many of the parrots in rescues have "emotional baggage" and may have health, temperment, or other problems. Not everyone has the experience (or want) to take those kinds of birds on. Therefore, I will offer a few sweet, socialized, young birds that I breed myself and will only be sent to good homes. Plus, I have the 1 year return policy.
sounds like a good idea just make sure you take good care of those animals unlike normal petstores! cant stand seeing sick animals in a petstores! good luck and i hope you succed!

How can I safely store pet food for long storage?
With all the talk of preparing for emergencies, how can I safely store a supply of cat food?
canned food, you just follow the recommendations for storage on the cans label
dry food, you can store in an airtight plastic container with one of those lids that snap on
or you can use one of those "space bags" the kind you fill up, then vacum all the air out of it, those will keep the food fresh forever!

Do you own a dog or cat in Alabama?
I am considering starting my own pet business by opening up a pet supply store. I would be selling organic, natural holistic pet food and treats, toys, clothes, accessoried, beds, bowls, collars & lesahes. The whole 9 yards and at great prices. If I opened this store, would you shop there? Or do you think it would do well? I would open it in the Birmingham or Trussville area.
well i don’t live in Alabama but i think that it is a great idea. If i lived in Alabama and i had a pet i would shop there.
