Has anyone tried both of these dry cat foods (I know canned food is better) if so pros and cons of each?
I read alot of the answers about too high in protein what about Merrick BG food I read a bag and that has lower protein?
Innova EVO is a little better than Wellness CORE but both are excellent grain free foods. You shouldn’t have to worry about the high protein content if your cats are healthy and do not have any kidney problems. Which, as you know, you can help ensure by feeding… wet food

I currently feed my cat Evo,
She is allergic to grain.
I have heard a lot of good about wellness too. So which is better? Anyone with any experience?
Both are excellent foods, so it’s a matter of what your cats prefer. I feed almost all canned, and between the two, my cats much prefer the Wellness to the EVO. I do feed a very small amount of dry, and they prefer the EVO to the Wellness Core. There are a couple other grain free foods, such as Blue Buffalo Wilderness. And there is no reason why you can’t rotate among the various brands that she likes. Mine get fed several different premium brands. It keeps cats from being fussy eaters, and protects you in case the preferred brand is out of stock, or the manufacturer changes the formula. I’ve found that if you stick with foods that are of the same quality there are no stomach upsets associated with it (any more than eating chicken one day and a steak the next upsets our stomachs). If you’re feeding all dry, then you can mix the two brands together to get the same effect.

Which should I choose - Halo or Wellness? I’ve been reading previous questions about Halo and people seem to prefer Wellness over Halo because Wellness has more protein. Why would this matter?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks Ruby!
The more protein the better for cats, as that’s what Nature intended for them to eat. Cats really have very little use for grains - in the wild the only grains they would eat would be the contents of their prey’s stomach. All those nice looking veggies are meant to make the food more appealing to us, not really for their benefit. For my money, I’d go with Wellness as it has more meat protein per dollar than the Halo does. Aside from that they are both fine foods. I feed mostly canned, however, and my cats won’t touch the Halo canned. Their favorite (and the main food at my house) is the Wellness chicken. Yours however, may like the Halo canned very much.

Price doesn’t matter.
I really like Orijen, but it is pricey. Here is a website that gives you great info on the more popular foods for cats.

I wouldn’t buy Wellness cat food before because it had garlic listed as one of it’s ingredients. Now, when I read the bag I can’t find it on there anymore. Have they removed the garlic?
Yes. You may still find product out there that has it listed but it has been removed from the new stuff.
I’m going to find you a link….
Well, I can’t find anything on their site. But you can contact them directly to ask (second link).
Or see this from a group to which I belong. One of the members contact them and this is snipped from their response:
"…..we removed the garlic from our canned cat food beginning with our December 2007 manufacturing runs. Due to varying inventory levels, you may find product on the shelf with garlic next to product that is garlic-free. Cans with an expiration date of December 2010 forward are garlic-free."

I buy my cat Wellness Core chicken and turkey liver canned food and she usually loves it! But this past weekend I bought it and it was in a gold can instead of a silver can (yes I did buy the right food), it looked and smelled different when I opened it, and my cat wont eat it. Has anyone else had this problem?
Manufacturers will often change the the formula around a bit - and then with some cats you now have a problem. That’s why I rotate among several different brands/flavors of canned food. If you feed equivalent brands, it’s not an issue. This way you’re "protected" in case of something like this, or if the store is out of what you generally buy. There are other grainless foods out there - EVO, Instinct, Blue Buffalo Wilderness, and even most of the regular Wellness flavors. Try some others!

I have a 16 yr old tabby cat that was prescribed the Hills i/d formula food. This was because he kept throwing up and they said he has a "sensitive stomach." First we tried the canned food which he loved, but he’d cry constantly. It was like he was still hungry. The vet said we could add the dry formula too.
Well now he likes the dry and won’t eat the canned. My problem is he’s still getting sick and I don’t know if this is the right food.
Someone said earlier to try Wellness. Does anyone know if there’s anything similar to Hills for sensitive stomachs?
Thank you! Thanks to those who offered suggestions to me earlier on another concern.
Thank you everyone so much!! I appreciate advice and suggestions!! That link Ken was great and I can’t believe how much I didn’t know or realize. I’ve had 3 vets look at him and they all found the same conclusion. Maybe it is the "grains" and dry food/brand that aided to his "sensitive" issues. I want to help my cat. Seeing him sick and trying so many things..I think we’re both tired. ha! Seriously I will try these suggestions! Thanks!
